<<孟子>> 「梁惠王」篇의 構成과 敍述方式에 대한 硏究

본 논문은 <<孟子>> 「梁惠王」편을 논의 대상으로 삼아 「梁惠王」편이 首篇에 설정된 이유 및 그 구성과 연계방식을 살펴본 것이다. 기존의 <<孟子>> 연구물은 대부분 句와 章에 국한되어 있어 句와 章의 결합체인 篇을 대상으로 전체적 흐름을 파악하는 연구가 잘 이루어지지 않았다. 따라서 본 논문은 「梁惠王」 篇을 대상으로 삼아 <<孟子>>의 전체적 흐름을 파악하려고 한 것이다. 맹자가 사상을 이어받은 <<論語>>의 경우 공자의 말을 편집해 모아 놓은 것이기에 서술 과정이 동일한 시점으로 이루어지지 못했다. 따라서 편장방식이나 구성 그리고 그 문의를 파악하기가 쉽지 않다. 그러나 <<孟子>>의 경우 독립된 장이 유기적으로 이어져 있어서, <<論語>>보다 한층 더 전형화 된 서술 방식을 가진다. <<孟子>> 「梁惠王」편의 구성은 크게 仁義→王道政治→實現資質→王道政治의 實際→天命’으로 이루어져 있다. 이는 仁義와 仁義의 政治, 즉 王道政治라는 하나의 주제를 포괄한다. 단순히 맹자가 만난 제후왕들과의 대화를 순차적으로 기록해 놓은 것이 아니라는 사실이 바로 「梁惠王」편의 구성을 통해 입증된다. 「梁惠王」편은 주제를 드러내기 위한 주된 수사법으로 問-答의 敍述方式 및 引用과 寓言의 방식을 사용한다. 이러한 수사법은 간결하지만 강한 설득력을 확보해주기에 주제 전달의 효과가 매우 크다는 의의를 가진다.
Abstract
This study examined the reasons behind the selection of Book of King Hui of Liang of Mencius as a Supyeon, as well as its organization and connection styles. Previous studies on Mencius were mostly restricted to the phrases and chapters with few researches on the overall flows of books, the combinations of phrases and chapters. The present study thus set out to understand the overall flows of Mencius based on Book of King Hui of Liang. The Analects of Confucius, on which Mencius based his ideologies, were compilations of edited words of Confucius, which is why the narration processes were not in the same point of view. It is thus not easy to figure out the ways the books and chapters were organized and composed and the inquires were made. Mencius, on the other hand, contains independent chapters organically connected to each other and thus has a much more typical style of narration than The Analects of Confucius. The organization of Book of Hui of Liang of Mencius mainly follows humanity and justice→royal politics→qualification of realization→reality of royal politics→Heaven’s will, encompassing the topic of humanity and justice and its politics, namely royal politics. The organization of Book of Hui of Liang demonstrates that Mencius is not the simple records of his conversations with feudal lords and kings in a sequential manner. The Book employs questioning and answering, quotation, and allegory as its major rhetorics to express its topic. Those rhetorics are concise but very persuasive, thus claiming the significance of huge effects in terms of topic delivery.
