周作人과 『老虎橋雜詩』 Ⅲ ― 兒童雜事詩의 세계

Abstract

This article might be positioned as the last part of my series of writings about ‘Satirical Poems of Lao Hu Qiao(老虎橋雜詩)’ written by Zhou Zuoren. It deals with 72 poems of ‘Miscellaneous Children Poems (兒童雜事詩)’ in ‘Satirical Poems of Lao Hu Qiao’. These pieces were the only ones published in his lifetime among other poems written in prison. In 1950 from February to May, Shaghaian magazine ‘Yibao(亦報)’ published Zhou's brilliant poems with vivid illustrations by Feng Zikai (豊子凱). Why does Zhou's prison poetry come down to ‘Miscellaneous Children Poems’? What did those mean to Zhou Zuoren? What were the differences in his mind among the poems ‘Qilu (騎驪)', ‘Xiuqi (修禊)' and ‘The emperor of Shunzhi (淸順治帝)' which applied the same materials? To answer these questions, this article examined Zhou's works for children and his related ambition for folklore and mythology. This study also needed to review his dream for new culture. For these purpose, I tried to capture the whole view of ‘Satirical Poems of Lao Hu Qiao'.‘Miscellaneous Children Poems' reveals the lateral features of Zhou's prison poetry. It shows his image of returning to hometown as a result of his study and memory of the folkways and cultural objects of his hometown Shaoxing (紹興) in his young age. Moreover, it was Zhou's self-healing process to restore his own basic nature while reflecting China's culture through the eyes of the children.
