Abstract
This article was written to examine to the poetical world of Hoegok's east journey's poem and aspects of Soron's journey to the East in the first half of the 17th century. Hoegok left behind several journey’s poems while experiencing two trips to the east 1634 and from 1638 to 1639. East journey, which means traveling to Mt. Geumgan and other Gwandong regions, was a practice of "Cheonyu[天遊]," enjoying freedom unworldliness, unlike pleasant trips to the eyes and ears. Hoigok's east journey’s poem is characterized by being created around Oeonyulsi[五言律詩] in terms of formality. Hoegok's creation patterns of east journey’s poem were divided into "relieving anguish and recovering wounds of the heart through the enjoyment of the space of the gods" "enjoyment of various pleasures and will of sightseeing" and "expression of lonely and sad hearts and minds concerned about the country." In his first east travel in 1634, Hoegok escaped from daily anguish and practiced "cheonyu" by experiencing scenic spots in Mt. Geumgang and Gwandong in the space of the gods. He also actively expressed the will of sightseeing by overcoming difficult situations he encountered in the process of exploring beautiful scenery. However, the second journey to the east which ran from 1638 to 1639, was a journey to express the loneliness and patriotism I felt while looking at the ruined mountains right after the Byeongjahoran. This can be said to be a characteristic aspect of Hoegok’s east journey’s poem, which is difficult to see in other east journey’s poem.
