본 논문은 청년 패널자료를 이용하여 청년들의 초기 노동시장 경험이 고용성과에 미치는 효과를 분석하였다. 이를 위해 미취업기간과 첫 일자리 경험이 향후 고용에 미치는 효과를 분석하였다. 분석방법은 주로 패널 임의효과 모형을 사용하여 개인의 미관찰 이질성 요인을 통제하고자 하였으며 다항로짓모형을 이용하여 청년 일자리의 질을 분석하였다. 분석결과, 미취업기간은 임금과 주변부 고용에 속할 가능성에 부정적인 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났고 현재 주변부 일자리에 속할 가능성에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 초기 주변부 일자리 경험은 현재 주변부 일자리에 속할 가능성을 높이는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 분석결과를 보면 초기 노동시장 경험이 향후 고용성과에 미치는 효과를 파악할 수 있는데, 오점효과보다는 노동시장 분단화로 이를 보다 잘 설명될 수 있다.
Abstract
This paper explores the effects of early labor market experiences on the youth employment outcomes in Korea, using Youth Panel Survey (YP) data. For the purpose, we examine the effects of jobless duration and first job experience on future youth employment. This study uses the panel random-effect models to control unobserved heterogeneous characteristics of individual for the probability of current employment. Also multinomial logit model are estimated for the quality of youth job. We found jobless duration isn’t negatively related with wage and the probability of being periphery employment in early labor market but is positively related with the current probability of job. Also we discovered that early periphery employment experienced affect probability of being current periphery employment strongly. These results show how the experience of the early labor market affect the afterward outcome and support the labor market segmentation theory rather than the scarring effect hypothesis.
