Abstract

Competition in the field of automotive design is becoming increasingly fierce amid the gradual equalization of the technological levels of car manufacturers around the world due to the modularization of car parts. Car manufacturers are vying with each other to secure greater competiveness in design, particularly interior design. This study aims to develop a competitive car interior design with the focus on creating car seat fabrics that will appeal to consumers visually and sensually. This study also analyzed the characteristics of seat fabrics of concept cars introduced at recent auto shows held both in and out of the country. People are spending more and more time in their cars due to changes in life style, inevitably resulting in a heightened interest in car interior design. Car makers are devising new strategies for displaying differentiated car interior spaces that show off their personality, including the use of environmentally-friendly materials for seat fabrics. Such a trend will lead to the development of new trends in seat fabric design.
