Abstract

Along with the paradigm shift that consumes culture rather than material, the industrialization of abandoned and abandoned industrial facilities as a meaningful asset stands out. Rather than spending a lot of capital to produce a new cultural space, the use of neglected industrial land is a reasonable alternative. In addition, it is a preservation and meaningful use of heritage values as a site where the traces of industrial activity that has been active in the past are alive and useful as a useful resource in the context of the present times. This study focuses on the intersection of modern industrial heritage and complex cultural space and aims to comprehensively analyze the oriented values and functions of the modern cultural complex based on heritages. Seven domestic cases selected through design expert FGI will be explored with 12 items derived from previous studies and analyzed. The results of this study are as follows. First, the complex cultural space based on modern industrial heritage aims at high social and cultural values, actively communicates with local residents and stakeholders through cultural and artistic contexts, and serves as a base for creating new cultures. It also acts as a local tourist destination, developing and selling its own products, promoting the local economy and creating economic value. On the other hand, ideological and historical value orientations are analyzed to be low. Second, among the functions of the complex cultural spaces of exhibition, performance, education, commerce, and community, the function of the exhibition is the highest. It is passive in community space that provides a space for rest or waiting. Although the industrial and technological values of the time are stationary, our industrial heritage, connecting the past, present, and future, is an important asset and can be reborn as a space to enjoy culture and art by adding new functions. We need to approach based on unique singularities, not simple indiscriminate value creation for increased demand.
