4년제 대학 시각디자인 전공자의 정보문해력 향상을 위한 정보디자인 교육모델 연구

초록

본 연구의 목적은 4년제 대학 시각디자인전공 정보디자인 교과목의 교육 방향과 목표 그리고 내용을정보문해력 향상에 맞게 재설정하여 교육모델을 제안하는 것이다. 이 연구는 시각 커뮤니케이션디자인 교육 분야에서 정보디자인 교육을 하나의 교과목으로 개설하고 다루어야 한다는 필요성 설득에만국한 시키지 않고 이 연구를 통해 제안한 정보디자인 교육모델이 시각 문해력에서 더욱 확장되고 세부적으로 진보된 정보디자인 문해력을 효과적으로 학습시키는 것에 초점을 맞추었다. 이 모델을 구축하기 위하여 본 연구는 첫째, 정보디자인 교육과 관련한 미디어문해력, 디지털문해력, 데이터시각화문해력 그리고 정보문해력에 관한 선행연구들을 분석하였고 어떻게 그것의 각 주요 개념들이 정보디자인 교육의 필요성과 연결되는지를 설명하였다. 그리고 이를 교육목표와 방향, 그리고 교육구조를 설정하는 이론적 근거로 삼았다. 둘째, 2003년부터 현재까지 저자가 교육한 정보디자인 관련 교육 컨텐츠와 정보디자인 문해력을 향상시키기 위한 항목들을 각각 범주화하여 이를 토마스 오커스의 커뮤니케이션 모델에 적용하였고 정보디자인 교육 시스템을 구조화하였다. 셋째, 이 모델은 전통적으로 시각커뮤니케이션디자인 교육 분야에서 구축해온 고유의 시각언어와 그래픽 표현 기술에 영향을 받으면서도 정보디자인 문해력을 향상하기 위한 새로운 정보디자인 문법을 다시 시각 커뮤니케이션디자인 교육에 효과적으로 영향을 미칠 수 있도록 설계하였다. 그 결과 이 모델은 정보디자인교육에 대한 구체적인 체계와 4가지 세부적인 교육 경로를 제안할 수 있었다. 이에 본 연구가 지속해서 수업에 적용되고, 검토, 보완된다면, 시각디자인은 정보 체증이 삶의 일부로 받아들여지는 정보화시대에서 글과 그림을 이해할 수는 있으나 정보를 이해하지 못하는 또 다른 개념의 문맹자들을 위하여 정보 소통의 효율성을 더 높일 수 있는 역할을 할 것으로 기대한다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to suggest an educational model for information design to enhance the information literacy, through resetting the purpose, direction, and content of an information design curriculum for the college students of visual communication design major. However this study is not focusing on persuading the information design class to be included in the visual communication design curriculum, but effectively teaching Information Design Literacy, which is more expanded, subdivided, and advanced from Visual Literacy. In order to establish the model, first of all, I conducted preceding research analysis about Visual, Media, Digital, Data Visualization, and Information Literacy related to information design education and explained how each main concept of the literacies is connected with the necessity of information design education model. The second, I reorganized the communication system developed by Thomas Ockerse as the basic structure of the education model based on the core contents of information literacy, and the teaching methods and results of information design classes that I have taught from 2003 to 2021. Consequently, I designed the model that has an effect on the visual design education as a new information design system to study the literacy for new paradigm shift although it basically consists of the visual design knowledge such as visual grammar and graphic design expression skills constructed in visual communication design field. As a result, this study suggests a concrete system and four detailed courses for information design education. In addition, the model is to share the idea, to apply to practical studies, and to make many cases. From the update tasks the expected effects of this study is that the visual communication design can help new illiterate people who can read texts but can’t interpret visual information to communicate better.
