본 연구는 <어떤 그늘> 전시에 출품한 연구자의 추상 회화 연작에서 발견되는 움직임 표현에 초점을맞춰 새로운 의미 작용을 거듭하며 촉발되는 비동일성에 관해 다룬다. 동시대 미술에서의 추상 회화는단순 재현에 기반한 구상 회화의 성격에서 벗어나, 하나의 양식으로 규정할 수 없을 만큼 참신한 형식과 기법으로 다양하게 변화하고 있다. 연구자는 작업에서 이항 대립(형상과 무형상, 복수성과 단일성) 이 혼재하는 일련의 상태와 화면 속 요소들이 교차하는 구조를 주된 조형 언어로 삼았다. 무엇보다 연구자의 작업에서 삶의 총체성을 함축하는 리듬감은 상당한 비중을 차지하며, 화면 속에서 연속과 단절을 반복하는 생명의 기운을 추상화하는 핵심적 동력은 움직임 표현이다. 이 연구는 연구자의 회화 작업에서 불확실성이 내재된 비결정적 움직임을 시각화한 자아와 존재 의식을 되짚어보며, 지각과 감각이 뒤섞인 추상적 움직임의 궤적을 그러모아 그 의미를 다각적으로 분석하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 연구 방법으로는 작업에 적용된 움직임 개념에 기반한 모호한 경계, 비가시적 이미지, 분할된 화면의 문제 등을 검토했으며, 그 외 연작 전반을 관통하는 인간 존재의 양태에 관한 문제는 퐁티의 시지각에관한 ‘현상학적 입장’을 빌어 작업의 실제를 이해하는 과정에 참조했다. 결과적으로 연구자의 연작에드러난 움직임 표현은 직관적 차원에서 관념적 차원으로 이행하는 동세 표현에만 한정되지 않는다. 본연구는 단편적인 감성의 차원에서 이루어지는 주관적 해석을 넘어서서 창안된 감각적 시각 질서와 조형 형식 등을 살펴보는 과정을 통해, 직관의 영역을 벗어난 움직임 표현의 미학적 가능성을 재인식했음에 그 의의가 있다.
Abstract
This study focused on the expression of movement found in the researcher’s abstract painting series presented in the <Layered Shadow> exhibition, and delved into the concept of non-identity triggered by repeated new meaning. Abstract painting in contemporary art is being transformed into new forms and techniques beyond the characteristics that are contrary to figurative painting based on representation, so that it cannot be defined as a single style. The researcher used the structure of intersecting elements in the screen as the main formative language in which binary oppositions are mixed. Above all, the rhythm that implies the totality of life in the researcher’s work occupied a significant portion, and the core driving force of abstraction that repeats continuity and disconnection is the expression of movement. The purpose of this study is to review the characteristics of the self, consciousness of existence, visualized as non-deterministic movements with inherent uncertainty in the researcher's painting work. In other words, it is to collect and analyze the traces of abstract movement in which perception and sensation are mixed. As a research method, the researcher applied the concept of movement to examine the ambiguous boundaries formed by non-hierarchical circulation, invisible images, and problems with divided screens. The problem of the mode of human existence that runs through the whole series is to understand the reality of the work by employing the ‘phenomenological position’ of Ponty on visual perception. As a result, the expression of movement revealed in the researcher’s series is not limited to the expression of the movement from an intuitive level to an ideological level. It is meaningful in that it re-established the aesthetic possibility of expression of a movement that goes beyond the realm of intuition through the process of examining the created sensuous visual order and formative form, beyond the subjective interpretation of fragmentary sensibility.
