Abstract

With the advent of the metaverse concept, virtual packaging design has the potential to expandfurther in the field of design that incorporates new technologies, distinguishing itself fromtraditional packaging design. This study explores the visual representation of virtual packagingdesign within the metaverse environment, based on virtual reality theory, and investigates thevisual interaction that virtual packaging offers to consumers. Virtual packaging design in themetaverse features surreal visual styles, interactive design methods, real-time updates indisplay forms, and eco-friendly and sustainable characteristics. This research selected thevirtual packaging designs of well-known brands such as Coca-Cola, Snow Beer, Watsons XSODA Sparkling Water, and Golden Organic Milk as case studies. It examined how thesedesigns use elements like surreal colors, pixelation, and augmented reality technology toprovide consumers with immersive and unique visual interaction experiences.Through dataanalysis, the study explored the impact of visual interaction experiences with virtual packagingdesigns in the metaverse on consumers’ purchase intentions. The results indicate that visualinteraction elements such as creativity, attractiveness, informativeness, interactivity, anduniqueness significantly influence consumers’ purchase decisions. This paper presents a newperspective on virtual packaging design and emphasizes its potential and applicability in futuredigital marketing. Additionally, it explores the potential of virtual packaging design tocontribute to environmental protection and sustainable development, highlighting newviewpoints on virtual packaging design and its future prospects in digital marketing. Asmetaverse technology continues to evolve, virtual packaging design will become one of the keymethods through which brands and consumers interact, promoting innovation and advancementin brand marketing strategies.
