이 연구는 동시대 예술작품에서 나타나는 아우라의 원본성과 유일성 및 매체의 재매개 개념에 초점을 맞춰 그 의미와 변화를 고찰하였다. 서론에서는 현대미술의 난해성 논란에 대한 배경과 작품의내용 및 형식의 변화를 살펴보았다. 2장에서는 벤야민의 이론을 기반으로 아우라의 개념과 이를 탐구하는 비평가들의 다양한 관점 및 예술적 해석을 분석하고, 유사 아우라와 같이 아우라를 이해하는새로운 개념들을 제시하였다. 이에 기반하여 연구의 핵심 즉, 동시대 아우라를 고찰하기 위한 객관적 특성을 원본성과 유일성으로 도출하였다. 3장에서는 볼터와 그루신의 재매개 개념을 살펴보고, 예술형식과 아우라의 변화에 재매개가 어떻게 작용하고 있는가를 해석하였다. 4장에서는 위 과정에서 도출한 아우라와 재매개의 개념에 기반하여 레디메이드 이후 작품들을 중심으로 분석하였다. 마르셀 뒤샹, 로버트 모리스, 마우리치오 카텔란, 뱅크시의 작품을 통해 아우라와 재매개가 예술작품에 어떻게 나타나고 있는지 살펴보고, 이를 통해 아우라의 동시대 의미를 탐색하였다. 5장에서는 현대미술 전반에 걸쳐 아우라와 재매개의 역할과 변화를 살펴보았다. 이를 통해 동시대 예술작품에 있어서의 아우라의 변화, 유형, 해석과 감상 그리고 동시대 예술의 의미에 대한 새로운 관점을 제시하였다.
Abstract
This study examines the originality and uniqueness of the aura, as well as the concept of remediation in contemporary artworks, focusing on their meanings and transitions. In the introduction, I explore the background of the controversy surrounding the complexity of contemporary art and investigate changes in the matter and form of artworks. In chapter 2, I analyze the concept of aura based on Benjamin's theory, exploring various perspectives of critics and artistic interpretations. New concepts of understanding aura, such as ‘Psuedo-Aura,’ are introduced. Building on this, the core objective of the study is to derive the objective characteristics of contemporary aura as originality and uniqueness. In chapter 3, I examine the concept of remediation proposed by Bolter and Grusin, interpreting how remediation operates in the changes of art and aura. In chapter 4, I focus on the analysis of artworks after Readymade based on the concepts of aura and remediation derived from the previous chapters. Through the examination of works by Marcel Duchamp, Robert Morris, Maurizio Cattelan, and Banksy, I explore how aura and remediation manifest in artworks, thereby investigating the contemporary significance of aura. In chapter 5, I examine the role and changes of aura and remediation across contemporary art, providing new perspectives on the transitions, types, interpretations, and appreciation of aura in contemporary artworks and the meaning of contemporary art as a whole.
