Abstract

Donation activity is prevalent for local charitable organizations rather than for glocal charitable organizations. The reason is that the impact of donation to the local charitable organizations is much higher than the impact of donation to the global organizations. However, people in developed countries located in such as Africa desperately need global help. Although a few research tried to suggest the way to increase the donation for people in such countries, it is not enough for those people. Thus, the current research suggests donation message communicator’s gaze direction as a novel factor to increase the donation for those people and to examine the influence of communicator’s gaze direction on the intention of donation. The findings revealed that in the far eye gaze direction condition, participants showed more favorable attitudes toward the global organization, whereas in the direct eye gaze direction condition, participants showed more favorable attitudes toward the local organization. Furthermore, in the far eye gaze direction condition, participants expressed higher donation intentions to the global organization. Yet, in the direct eye gaze direction condition, participants expressed higher donation intentions to the local organization. Thus, the current research suggested the way to increase the donation intention for the global as well as local organization.
