이 논문은 Vinoba Bhave 영성사상의 요가철학적 의의를 홀리스틱 관점에서 논의하고자 하는 목적을 띠고 있다. Vinoba Bhave는 인도의 대표적인 영성사상가로서 대중들을 위한 사회적 실천적 활동을 통해 영성을 구현하고자 하였다. 그의 대표적인 사회적 실천은 비폭력 투쟁을 의미하는 사티아 그라하(Satyagraha), 경제적 불평등 해결을 위한 부단(Boodhan)운동, 나이탈림(Nai Talim)과 같은 신교육 운동을 통해 전개한 바 있다. Vinoba적 영성은 종교적 차원에 머물지 않고 사회 대중들을 위한 헌신과 긴밀히 연계되어 있다는 점에서 통합적 실천영성의 의미를 내재하고 있다. Vinoba적 통합적 실천영성의 원리는 그의 요가철학에 기반하고 있다. Vinoba의 요가는 행위(karma), 지혜(jñãna), 헌신(bhakti), 명상(diana)의 4가지이다. 그의 요가는 개인적 수행과 사회 대중들을 위한 사회적 의무를 실천하는 의미를 동시에 내재하고 있다. 이러한 Vinoba적 통합적 실천영성과 요가철학은 홀리스틱 측면에서도 중요한 의의를 지닌다. 홀리스틱적 관점에서도 영성과 사회적 실천을 연계하는 통합적 실천영성을 강조하고 있고, 영성수련의 방법으로서 요가를 강조하고 있기 때문이다. 이 논문에서는 Vinoba의 영성사상과 요가철학적 의의를 홀리스틱 관점에서 조명하고, 이에 따른 의의를 탐색하고자 한다.
Abstract
This article aims to investigate the structural principles of the Yoga philosophy of India's leading spiritual practitioner Vinoba Bhave from the holistic perspective. As Gandhi’s disciple Vinoba Bhave has implemented his spirituality through various social praxis of the political, economy and education for the public in low social class. His efforts through social praxis include Satyagraha, which means "non-violent struggle" from a political area, and Boodhan, a "new continuous movement" to relieve the inequality among the people in the social class by land commitment. Vinoba has the character of a unified spirituality in that the spirit is closely associated with social practice for the public in low class(especially as like Harizan, Talit in the India). And it is his Yoga philosophy to present the rationale behind this Vinoba spirit of integration. Vinoba's Yoga philosophy is based on four yoga system: behavior(karma), wisdom(jnana), commitment (bhakti) and meditation(diana). The pure act(akarma) he pursues in his yoga philosophy (KARMA-YOGA) is synonymous with social practice devoted to the public. In this sense, it is considered that yoga is not a mere mental and physical trainee, but a principle that deals with social differences psychologically. Vinoba's Unified Spirituality and the Yoga philosophy as a practice principle therefore provide a very significant meaning from the Holistic perspective. It is because it emphasizes spirituality from the perspective of the Holly Stick and yoga as a method of spiritual training. Through this study, Vinoba's philosophy on yoga is reinvestigated from the perspective of the Holism for example- connectedness, integrity, balance, in order to explore the meaning of Vinoba Bhave's yoga philosophy.
