초록
Despite the considerably growing interest in corpus linguistics and the use of authentic language data among Korean (English) linguists, only a few seem to be confident about the use of corpora and corpus tools in their linguistic research. This paper takes a close look at (more powerful) WordSmith Tools 4.0 and (more user-friendly) MonoConc Pro 2.2, two of the most useful and readily accessible software packages for corpus-based investigations and linguistic analyses, with an aim to compare their main features, contrasting their merits and demerits, and thereby to help language researchers and teachers to choose the most appropriate corpus tool(s) that will best satisfy their needs.
