Abstract
This study proposes a security certification model for defense acquisition contractors in the Republic of Korea, building on the existing defense industrial security system. The research employs three methodological components: a comparative analysis of the U.S. CMMC framework and Korean security regulations, the design of a risk-based tiered security requirement structure, and procedural modeling that integrates security measurement, annual inspections, and security-level verification. The model enhances efficiency and effectiveness by combining tier-based information-handling authorization, graduated security requirements, and the structured participation of certified private security professionals. It aims to prevent supply-chain firms from becoming vulnerable in defense information protection while minimizing administrative burden and regulatory resistance. The model also supports Korea’s preparedness for an expanding global defense supply chain and provides a strategic foundation for alignment with the U.S. CMMC regime. Limitations include the absence of detailed control items and evaluation templates; future research should address these practical design elements to enhance the study's effectiveness
