Abstract

Yeonmin Lee Gawon is a renowned Korean Classics in Chinese scholar in Korea. His writings have already exceeded 100 books. He is very outstanding at Chinese poetry and sentences, and have been already recognized by Chinese scholars. In the fall of 1987, for the first time as a Korean, he was officially invited to China to present his thesis at an academic conference, visit Beijing, Qufu, Jinan, and Xi'an, and then return to Korea via Hong Kong. At this time, he created a hundred poems when traveling to China called “One hundred poems to the Chinese continent”. In this poem, he contains his views of modern China, his impressions of the mountains and rivers of China, his impressions of Ancient Chinese writers, and the imaginations of his senior Korean scholars on their trip to China. Since the establishment of the People's Republic of China in 1949, He is the first scholar to write a poem on the mainland of China. And He is the first scholar in history to write a poem over Xi'an. This is a matter of special note as it has a very important meaning in the history of Korean Classics in Chinese.
