19세기 이후 대륙철학에 대한 반동으로 시작한 영미분석철학은 논리학을 바탕으로 논증의 분석과 평가를 통해 철학적 문제를 해결한다. 우리나라의 인문학자들에게 분석철학은 인문학이 아니라 과학과 유사한 것으로 인식되어 왔다. 질적 영역에 대한 과학적 접근의 거부에서 자기정체성을 찾아왔던 인문학과 분석철학은 잘 어울리지 않는 듯하다. 본 글은 분석철학사와 동시대 분석철학의 주요 흐름을 검토한 후, 근본학으로서 철학의 전통을 계승하며 비판적 사고와 반성적 태도에 철저한 분석철학의 성격을 규명한다. 여러 인문학자들은 인문학의 문제에 대한 과학적 접근에 지나치게 경직된 모습을 보인다. 분석철학의 근본학으로서의 성격과 열린 비판 정신은 인문학이 과학을 대하는 스스로의 태도까지 비판할 수 있어야 함을 역설한다.
Abstract
Analytic philosophy, which started as a reaction to continental philosophy, tries to solve philosophical problems by analyzing and evaluating arguments in terms of logic. In Korea, continental philosophers and other humanities researchers have regarded analytic philosophy as a sort of natural science. Human science, which has found its identity in denying scientific approaches to qualitative subjects, does not seem to have a relation to analytic philosophy. This paper first reviews a short history of analytic philosophy and big problems of contemporary analytic philosophy, and then explains its nature as a successor of philosophical traditions, asking fundamental questions with the reflexive attitude through critical thinking. Many humanities researches are too unflexible against scientific approaches to problems which belongs to human science. Analytic philosophy, which asks fundamental questions and has the open critical mind, teaches us that human science should be critical about its attitude against natural science.
