초록

Korean Churches are divided as the evangelists surrounding the Christian Council of Korea(CCK) are concerned about while the ecumenicals supporting the National Council of Churches in Korea(NCCK) are celebrating on the upcoming the 10th WCC Assembly in Busan, South Korea next year. Although there are no visible movements to stop the assembly as the final date is set, however, multilateral efforts to inform WCC’s theological problems via the media and church education and to express absolute disagreement over the WCC’s theological stance in order to prevent the Korean churches from losing their purity in the gospel and passion for missions have been made. Hence, the joint statement endorsed by WEA, WCC, and Vatican requires a careful examination at its joint document level under mutual agreements. Both ‘Moratorium’ and ‘Dialogue Program’ covered in the body are WCC’s representative mission policies. The ‘Moratorium’influenced by the Liberation Theological Marxism was meant for WCC’s ‘unity and reconciliation’ or ‘justice and peace.’ Thus, it is not possible to estimate whether what WCC pursues are biblical and evangelical in the terminology used. Therefore, an approach to criticize WCC’s religiously pluralistic and syncretistic mission policies based on their past activities from an evangelistic point of view was taken. Above all, the ‘Dialogue Program’ upon the premise that salvation exists in other religions has resulted in a prejudice on the ‘Dialogue Program’ from the evangelical side and is sufficient to cause a misunderstanding that evangelists do not interact with other religious groups. The ‘joint document’ on the June 28th promotes mutual communications and supports among different religions. However,it is unclear whether the precondition on mutual communications is to acknowledge the relativity of salvation or not, and in addition,a preliminary study on WCC’s communication program listed on its website to clarify the purpose of communication is necessary. An expectation is invited so that Korean churches grasp the truth of and increase immunity against WCC to cope wisely, with a hope that Korean churches not go adrift by the 10th WCC Assembly in Busan, South Korea in 2013 and its religious pluralism and syncretism.
