초록
Any attempt to develop the human resources for missions, HRD, includes developing abilities of the prospective missionaries for the individual and renewing the partnerships which can bind mission-organizations and local churches together. According to the statistics in KRIM, the numbers of Korean missionaries abroad have been growing rapidly for a millenium, however, the quantitative number of Korean missionaries does not give an accurate account for present systematical challenges in Korean missions. In contrast to other professionals’ claim that explains the reasons for the decreasing rate of volunteers or prospective missionaries in Korean missions, the author argues that the systematical correlations between local churches and mission- organizations, as well as seminaries and Christian universities in missions can breakthrough the difficulties of present Korean missions. Without strong holds in Christ’ oneness and networks between different mission-organizations, academic organizations, like Kosin University, face the limitations and barriers for developing curriculum and recruiting prospective missionaries among students. Thus, the author made ten survey questions related to the visions and the missional goals of students, distributing the questionnaires to students in the Intercultural studies department at Kosin University. In order to demonstrate an importance of student missionaries and short-term missions as an important part of the whole picture of missions, the author collects data from the survey and describes the realistic needs of cooperation in Korean missions abroad. In a process of collecting data, the researcher regards all the responses as actual information and uses the data to make conclusion for the possibilities of student volunteer missionaries in Kosin University. By doing so, the author deals with the upside of developing cooperative systems with local churches, training schools in mission-organizations, and Christian academic circles. It is suggested that student missionaries can partner with local churches in developing the networks between Korean Mission boards and senior missionaries in cross-cultural mission fields, instead of only pastors or elders of local churches in Korea. With the advantages of student missionaries and short-term missions, students can be valuable resources, contributing to the kingdom of God. The author believes that there is no boundary do to age, sex, or denomination when partnering with God's world mission.
