선교에서 상황화 작업의 필요성과 위험성에 대한 고찰 : 복음주의 진영과 WCC 진영의 사례를 중심으로

초록

상황화(常況化. contextualization)는 선교신학에서 주요한 주제 가운데 하나이다. 말씀의 전달 혹은 사역은 상황과 분리될 수 없기에 선교에서 상황화 작업은 필수적으로 요구되지만, 또한 위험한 작업이기도 하다. 만약 상황화가 되지 않거나 부족할 경우 선포되는 말씀이나 사역은 특정한 상황에 제대로 뿌리를 내릴 수 없게 되며 또한 과(過)하면 혼합주의(syncretism)로 빠질 위험성이 있기 때문이다. 만약 상황화 작업이 필요할 경우 영원불변한 하나님의 말씀 안에서 이루어져야 한다. 오늘날 선교를 위해 사용되는 상황화 방법 가운데 상당수가 성경에서 이탈하고 있고 핵심 교리들을 훼손하는 방향으로 흘러가고 있음을 경계할 필요가 있다. 하나님의 말씀을 떠나 상황과 대상에 맞추고자 하다가 핵심교리를 포기하거나 기독신앙을 훼손하면서까지 상황화하려는 시도는 옳지않다. 또한 현장과 상황에 맞는 방식으로 사역을 하기 위해 상황화 작업은 필요하며 요구되지만, 하나님의 관심사 보다 인간의 관심사가 강조되는 상황화 작업은 피해야 한다. 이런이유 때문에 상황화 작업을 할 때 하나님께 필요한 지혜를 주시도록 기도에 힘을 쏟을 필요가 있다. 전할 말씀의 중요성과 청중들의 이해를 돕기 위해 상황화의 길로 나아가게 되는데 이 작업의 어려움은 우리로 기도의 자리로 나아가게 한다. 메시지를 바르게 상황화하는 방법을 발견할 때까지 계속 기도로 두드리며 찾을 필요가 있다. 현재 복음주의 진영과 WCC 진영이 용어 상황화를 동일하게 사용하면서도 그 의미와 추구하는 목표의 차이를 보이고 있다. 연구자는 본 연구에서 상황화의 필요성과 위험성을 복음주의 진영과 WCC 진영의 사례를 통해 살펴보고 문제해결을 위한 지침을 제시하고자 한다.

Abstract

Contextualization is one of the important topics in mission theology. The communication or ministry of the Word of God cannot be separated from the context, so contextualization work in missions is essential, but it is also a dangerous work. If contextualization does not offer or insufficient, the word of God or ministry proclaimed cannot be properly planted in a specific context, and if excessive, there is a risk of falling into syncretism. If contextualization is necessary in missions, it must be done according to the eternal and unchanging Word of God. It is necessary to be wary of the fact that many of the contextualization methods used for missions today are deviating from the Word of God and are moving in a direction that undermines core doctrines. It is not correct to leave the Word of God and try to adapt it to the context and object, but to give up the core doctrine or even to undermine the Christian faith. Contextualization work in missions is necessary and required in order to do ministry in a way that suits the field and situation, but contextualization work that emphasizes human interests rather than God's interests must be avoided. When working on contextualization, we need to make our efforts in prayer to have necessary wisdom we need. In order to help the audience understand the importance of the Word to be conveyed, we proceed to the path of contextualization, and the difficulty of this work leads us to a place of prayer. You need to keep tapping in prayer until you find a way to properly contextualize the message. Currently, the evangelical camp and the WCC camp use the term contextualization, but have showed the difference between the meaning and the goal pursued. In this study, the researcher examined the necessity and danger of contextualization in missions by taking examples from the evangelical camp and the WCC camp, and proposes some guidelines for problem solving.
