본 논문은 아프리카 사하라-사헬지역의 기후와 환경 변화로 인한 문제와 그로 인해 파생된 여러 불안 요소를 살펴본다. 사하라-사헬지역은 오늘날 인류가 직면한 모든 문제를 갖고 있는 곳이다. 이 지역은 기후 환경 변화와 인구 급증, 가난 등으로 심각한 어려움과 갈등을 겪고 있다. 게다가 지역 내 테러집단의 성장은 지역의 안정을 헤치는 주요인이 되고 있다. 단순히 지역 불안을 상승시키는 요소가 최근에는 정부와 무장 단체 간의 대결이 아닌 민간인에게까지 피해를 입히고 있다. 지역민은 어쩔 수 없이 난민의 길을 택하거나 각종 밀매 활동, 테러집단에 가입하고 있어 지역 불안은 더욱 고조되고 있다. 이렇듯 정치사회적 불안을 틈타 테러집단이 성장하고 있지만 지역 내에서 문제 해결을 보지 못하고 외국, 특히 프랑스군 개입이 활발하다. 하지만 프랑스군의 개입은 지역 안정을 꾀하기보다 문제와 갈등을 더 증폭시키고 있어 그 어느 때보다 해당 지역민의 삶을 보장할 수 있는 새로운 방식의 거버넌스를 모색해야 한다. 이 문제는 사헬지역 선교에 열심인 선교사와 지역 복음 전파를 위한 한국 교회에 지역에 대한 이해도를 위해 시사하는 바가 크다.
Abstract
This article aims to examine the problems of inequality due to climate and environmental changes in the Sahara-Sahel region of Africa and the resulting instables elements. The Sahara-Sahel region has all the problems facing mankind today. The region is experiencing serious difficulties and conflicts due to climate change, population growth and poverty. In addition, the growth of terrorist groups in the region has become a major threat to regional stability. The elements of regional instability has recently been damaging civilians beyond confrontation between the government and militant groups. Local people are forced to choose the path of refugees. In addition, they are joining various trafficking activities and terrorist groups, raising regional instability. Terrorist groups are growing under the influence of political and social inequality and instability, but local people themselves cannot solve the problem and foreign contries, especially France, are actively involved in military intervention. However, the French military's intervention has intensified the problem and conflict rather than stabilizing the region. Therefore, more than ever, we must seek new ways of governance to ensure the lives of local people in Sahara-Sahel region. These issues suggest a lot for local missionaries who are keen on missionary work in the Sahara-Sahel area and Korean churches for evangelical propagation in the Sahara-Sahel area to understand the region.
