간호사의 문화적 역량에 대한 통합적 고찰

문화적 역량은 다른 문화적 특성을 이해하고, 편견 없이 다른 문화의 사람들과 적절하고 효과적인 상호작용을 하는 능력으로, 특히 다양한 문화적 배경을 가진 대상자를 접하는 간호사에게 중요한 핵심역량으로 제시되고 있다. 최근 한국사회는 세계화와 결혼이주여성의 증가로 다문화 대상자가 증가하면서 국내에서도 이러한 인식이 증가하게 되었다. 문화적 역량을 갖춘 간호사는 다른 문화에 따른 가치나 태도를 이해하고 존중하며, 문화적 특성을 고려하여 적절하고 개별화된 간호를 수행할 수 있다. 이에 본 연구는 최근 10년간 국내에서 문화적 역량과 관련한 간호연구를 통합적 고찰의 방법을 통해 분석하여 의미 있는 결과를 통합함으로써 간호사의 문화적 역량에 대한 속성과 구성요소를 도출하였다. 분석에 선정된 연구는 총 9편으로 이중 문화적 역량 증진을 위한 중재연구는 3편에 불과했다. 모두 2010년 이후에 발표되어 간호사의 문화적 역량과 관련된 국내 연구가 초기단계임을 알 수 있었다. 간호사의 문화적 역량에 대한 속성은 문화적 지식, 문화적 인식, 문화적 수용성(태도), 문화적 기술(행위)의 4가지로 확인되었다. 국내 간호사의 문화적 역량을 증진시키기 위해 대학의 교육과정과 간호사 보수교육에 이에 대한 교육이 포함되어야 하며, 프로그램 개발 시 4가지 속성이 고려되어야 한다.
Abstract
This study was to draw the attributes of nursing with cultural competency based on an integrative review and to present basic information for developing cultural competence promotion programs for nursing. Using combinations of the terms ‘multiculture’, ‘cultural competence’, ‘nursing’, and ‘medicine’ as key words, the researchers searched relevant studies in three electronic databases. Twelve studies were selected through full text screening of related research published in academic journals from January 2004 to June 2014. Through in-depth discussion and investigation of the relevant literature, four components emerged; 1) cultural awareness, 2) cultural acceptance (attitude), 3) cultural knowledge, 4) cultural skill (practice). This study provide comprehensive prospective and basic standards for cultural competence program of nursing. Future program for improving the cultural competence of nursing should included these four components. The results of this study indicates that continuous effort is needed to integrate multicultural education program in curriculum of nursing college and continuing nurse education. Repeated study related to cultural competence of nursing should be also necessary.
