Abstract

This study analyzes the social, economic, and spatial rhythms of the Yeongdo area of Busan by applying Henri Lefevre's rhythmic analysis theory, and derives sustainable development possibilities based on this. This study examines Lefevre's theory, and examines the daily rhythm of the marine city by referring to the marine folk survey report related to the Yeongdo of the Busan archive and the temporal, spatial, and interdisciplinary data and literature of the Yeongdo archive. The rhythm of the Yeongdo area is largely three main patterns, and the roads and trails along the sea along the first natural aspect create a unique linear spatial rhythm, and movement and change in nature act as elements experienced daily. In the second traditional and modern aspect, the past and present, tradition and modernity coexist, and the busy life rhythm of the large city and the leisurely rhythm of the island flow. Third, in terms of social and cultural aspects, the Yeongdo area is also forming a new cultural rhythm as the marine industry gradually transitions to the tourism industry. The theory of analysis of the characteristics and rhythms of the Yeongdo area has an important point of contact in understanding and analyzing the social, physical, and emotional flow of cities and regions. In particular, it is expected to provide important implications in seeking ways to present the possibility of promoting modern development while preserving the unique rhythm of the region.
