Monk Doseon(道詵: 828∼898) founded Korean fengshui(風水). Doseon and his fengshui discourse were socially constructed. This paper studies on the shapes and functions of the Doseon's fengshui that was reconstructed by local resident community. Doseon's ideas acted as a spatial ideology that empowered the powerful local gentries in the late Joseon period in Jinju. His fengshui discourse had played an influential role in Jiri Mountain(智異山) region's settlements on the aspects of the location and landscape. Many settlements, traditional towns and villages in Jiri Mountain region were affected by Doseon's fengshui discourse and their functions and meanings were reconstructed according to the resident's purpose and interest..
