Abstract

Poems of Kim, Kwang-Gyun differs from those of other modernist poetsin that sensational descriptions and his own feelings co-exists in his poems. His poems are composed by the intent to manufacture them, not naturallyoccurred. Setimentalism, an important aspect of his poetry, is inspired by thefeelings of the poets himself, but it is also acquired by specific poeticcontext. He also produced poems by juxtaposing heterogeneous space-timeor editing the memory of the trip. Using synesthesia image also shows his producing consciousness. Synesthesia image not only shows the transition of senses, but also acts asthe method to produce poems. The original sense is the tenor of metaphorand the transitional sense is the vehicle of it. That is, when one sensebecome transition to a new sense, metaphor is connected metonymy and thewords or phrases are extended to the construction of a poem. Synesthesia image is meant to extend the meaning of poem by transitionof the senses, and sometimes connects the lines or the stanza. In either case,it functions as the principle constituting a poem. Kim, Kwang-Gyun’spoems embody the transition aspects of sensations by using the synesthesia images. Therefore, his poetry is a valuable data showing a method of 1930modernism poems.
