김수영의 후기 사유에서 ‘침묵의 미학’은 예술의 본질이며 지향으로 언급되곤 한다. 침묵의 미학과 상통하는 개념으로서 죽음의 시학, 무의미의 시 또한 1966~1968년의 산문에 의미 있게 등장한다. ‘죽음’의 문제가 특정 시기에 한정되지 않고 김수영의 시세계 전반에 걸쳐 시(쓰기)의 계기이자 동력으로 작용한다면 ‘무의미’의 추구는 침묵의 미학과 동일한 의미로서 이 시기에 의미심장하게 강조된다. 이 글에서는 시선의 리얼리티와 아이러니의 언어를 통해 침묵의 미학의 의미를 살펴보았다. 온갖 기성의 관념의 죽음과 ‘그림자에조차 의지하지 않는’ 언어를 시선의 리얼리티와 연결하여 살펴보고, 무의미의 시를 언어의 아이러니라는 맥락에서 살펴보았다. 그 과정에서 침묵의 언어는 본질적인 의미에서의 죽음의 언어, 무의미의 언어와 동일한 범주로 묶일 수 있음을 확인하였다. 김수영은 “거대한 사랑의 행위의 유일한 방법이 침묵 이라고 역설하였다. 침묵은 어떻게 사랑의 이행이 되는 것일까. 침묵의 시가 곧 행동의 시가 되는 비밀이 그 안에 있다.
Abstract
In Kim, Su-Young’s later thinking, the ‘aesthetics of silence’ is often mentioned as the essence and orientation of arts. As a concept similar to the aesthetics of silence, the poetics of death and poems of meaninglessness also significantly appear in proses of 1966~1968. The issue of ‘death’ works as an opportunity and power to write poems throughout the overall poetic world of Kim, Su-Young without limiting to specific periods while the pursuit of ‘meaninglessness’ is significantly emphasized in this period as the same meaning with the aesthetics of silence. This thesis examined the meanings of the aesthetics of silence through the reality of gaze and irony of language. This thesis examined all sorts of preconceived ideas of death and language that ‘would not even depend on shadows’ in the connection with the reality of gaze, and also examined the poems of meaninglessness in the context of irony of language. In this process, the language of silence could be understood in the same category of language of death and language of meaninglessness in the aspect of essential meanings. Kim, Su-Young emphasized that the only way to act great loves would be the silence. How could the silence fulfill loves? It has the secret in which a poem of silence becomes a poem of action.
