본 연구는 저시력 학생의 기능시력 평가와 문자매체 선정이 어떻게 이루어지고 있는지 알아보고자 우리나라 12개의 시각장애 학교 중 10개교에 재학중인 중고등부 저시력 학생 127명을 대상으로 기능시력 평가와 문자매체 선정 방법에 대한 설문 조사를 실시하였다.첫째, 저시력 학생의 기능시력 평가는 병원에서 의학적 진단을 중심으로 한 평가가 이루어지고 있어 학생들에게 자신의 잔존시력의 활용 가능성을 인식시키고 보다 적극적으로 활용하기 위한 환경 수정 방법에 대한 교육이 이루어지지 않고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 대부분의 저시력 학생이 문자매체로 묵자를 사용하고 있었으며, 문자매체 선정을 자기 스스로 하고 있었다. 셋째, 저시력 학생은 광학기구를 사용하지 않는 학생이 많았으며. 광학기구를 사용하고 있는 학생들은 대부분의 학생이 학습에 도움이 된다고 하였고, 광학기구 사용기회가 생기면 사용하고 싶다는 학생이 많았다. .이에 저시력 학생의 교육 목적에 적합하게 체계적인 기능시력 평가와 문자매체 평가가 이루어져서 저시력 학생의 학습 효율성을 높일 수 있게 하여야 할 것이다.
Abstract
This research aims to determine how the functional vision of low-vision students is evaluated and their text media are selected. To that end, it surveyed 127 low-vision students in ten middle and high schools of twelve schools for low vision students in Korea. First, the functional vision of low-vision students is medically diagnosed in hospitals. However, it was found that this method does not enable students to know the possibility of utilizing their remaining vision and receive education regarding the method of correcting the environment to more positively use their vision. Second, most of low vision students use silent letters as text media, and select text media on their own. Third, many of low vision students do not use optical devices, and most of those who use optical devices responded that the devices are helpful for their learning, and many students want to have the opportunity to use optical devices. Thus, efforts should be made to systematically evaluate functional vision and text media to be suited to the purpose of education for low vision students, thereby enhancing efficiency of learning for low vision students.
