시각장애인의 취업영향요인: 2005년 장애인실태조사 자료를 중심으로

초록

시각장애인의 취업실태 및 취업영향요인을 살펴봄으로써 시각장애인의 직업교육, 직업재활, 및 복지 향상을 위한 방안을 도출하는데 본 연구의 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 보건복지부와 한국보건사회연구원이 실시한 2005년도 장애인실태조사 원자료 중에서 만 15세 이상 시각장애인을 대상으로 취업 실태를 파악하고 로지스틱 회귀분석을 통해 취업 영향요인을 분석한 결과 첫째, 만 15세 이상 시각장애인 277,807명 중 취업한 추정 장애인은 34.9%인 96,842명으로 나타났다. 또한 나이가 적을수록, 가구주가 아닌 경우에, 자녀수는 많을수록, 일상생활동작능력이 높을수록, 시각장애가 경미할수록, 시각장애 기간이 길수록, 사적 이전소득과 공적 이전소득이 적을수록 취업 가능성이 높았다. 이러한 결과는 경증 시각장애인이 취업가능성이 높으며, 시각장애인의 취업은 인적자본요인이나 사회제도요인 보다 장애특성이 더 큰 영향을 미친다고 볼 수 있다.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the actual condition of employment of the visually impaired, and the effective factors, and thus to come up with plans to improve vocational training, rehabilitation, and welfare of the visually impaired. For this, the employment condition of the visually impaired aged 15 or older was analyzed from the data of the actual condition of the disabled conducted in 2005 by Ministry of Health and Welfare and Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs, and so were the factors influencing on employment through logistic regression. As a result, it turned out that among the visually impaired 277,807 individuals aged 15 or older, 96,842(34.9%) were employed. To grasp the factors that influenced employment, the logistic regression was conducted, which showed that the possibilities of employment were higher when the age was older, he/she was not the head of the household, the number of children was larger, the eyesight was better, ordinary motion ability was better, visual impairment was severer, both the private transfer income and public transfer income were higher, and the extent of the discrimination on the impairment that the person felt was higher. This result indicates that regardless of the high possibilities that persons with mild visual impairment may be employed, the visually impaired with more social support have higher possibilities of employment.
