사회 환경이 급변함에 따라 우리가 사용하는 말과 글, 도서도 시대의 변화에 발맞추어 급속도로 변화하고 있다. 이러한 현상은 점자에도 똑같이 적용됨은 당연하다. 그러나 현재 우리나라에서는 점자 도서를 점역하는 데 필요한 매뉴얼이 제대로 개발되어 있지 않아, 점역 기관별 혹은 지역별로 같은 내용이 달리 점역되고 있는 등 점자 도서의 질이 낮은 상황이며, 이러한 현상은 시각장애인이 점자를 회피하는 요인으로 작용하고 있다. 이 연구는 점자 도서 출판 매뉴얼 개발을 위한 기초연구로서, 시각장애특수학교나 시각장애 관련 기관에서 점역을 담당하고 있는 교사 및 점역사의 요구를 반영한 점자 도서 출판 매뉴얼을 개발하여 시각장애인들이 점자 도서를 보다 쉽게 이해하고 접근할 수 있도록 돕기 위해 수행되었다. 이 연구를 위해 국내․외 점자 도서 출판 관련 선행연구 및 시각장애인의 요구를 분석하였으며, 주요 점역 기관 전문가들과 협의하여 점역에 대한 공통적인 합의를 이끌어내는 과정을 거쳤다. 연구 결과, 점자 도서 출판 매뉴얼 개발에 있어서 반드시 반영되어야 할 주요 요소들이 도출되었다.
Abstract
Social change leads to change our braille publishing environment. But braille is still most important system which enables blind and partially sighted people to read and write through touch. There are a lot of problem which limited Korean braille type book publication. The biggest problem of Korea's braille type book publication is that there are no standard manuals. In addition, figure, map, chart, and diagrams are difficult to translate into Braille. Therefore, many braille translation institutions should use different manual for each one. This preliminary study aims to development of Korea's braille type book publication manual. For this study, Analysis of the domestic and international research about braille translation manual was analyzed. And I investigate the needs of the visually impaired. Braille type book publication manual will be helpful to the braille translator and blind people.
