성별과 학교급별로 본 맹학생의 학습 양식과 비판적 사고력 성향

학습자가 선호하는 학습 양식은 개인차를 고려한 교수 학습 계획에서 중요한 정보이다. 또한 자신에게 필요한 정보를 선택하는데 있어서 비판적 사고는 정보화와 다원화 시대에서 민주 시민으로서의 역량으로 강조되어 왔다. 본 연구는 맹학생이 선호하는 학습 양식과 비판적 사고력 성향을 성별과 학교급을 고려하여 살펴보기 위해 실시되었다. 본 연구에서 설정한 연구 문제에 따른 결과들은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 성별에 따른 맹학생의 학습 양식 점수 간에는 유의한 차이가 없었지만 학교급 별에 따른 학습 양식 점수 간에는 유의한 차이가 있었다. 둘째, 비판적 사고력 성향 점수에서는 성별과 학교급에 따른 통계적으로 유의한 차이는 없었다. 셋째, 맹학생의 학습 양식 점수 간에는 부적 상관이 있었고, 비판적 사고력의 일부 하위 요소 점수 간에 부적 혹은 정적 상관이 있었다. 학습 양식과 비판적 사고력의 일부 하위 요소 간에만 상관이 있었다. 높은 학교급에 있는 맹학생들이 구체적 경험 양식을 많이 사용하면서 상대적으로 추상적 개념화는 부족되어 있었다. 이 결과로 볼 때, 맹학생을 대상으로 한 추상적 개념화에 대한 체계화된 교육이 요구된다고 할 수 있다. 정보화시대에서 요구되는 비판적 사고력 성향의 일부 하위요소들이 학습 양식과 관계가 있다는 점을 고려하여 각 학생이 주로 사용하는 학습양식을 토대로 한 비판적 사고력 지도가 실시될 수 있다.
Abstract
The experiential learning model portrays four learning modes such as concrete experience, abstract conceptualization, reflective observation, and active experiment. Each child develops preferred modes of learning processes to perceive, grasp or take hold of new information and transform or process experience. Critical thinking is indispensible to the students in modern society as an important intellectual trait in leading an independent adult life for the future. This study was designed to examine preferred learning modes and critical thinking dispositions of students who are blind. A total of the 117 subjects were taken for research in special schools for the blind sited in Seoul and North Chungcheong Province. Kolb’s learning style inventory(LSI) and Questionnaires on critical thinking dispositions have used to assess their learning preference and critical thinking dispositions. Results of this study can be summarized as follows: First, significant differences of learning mode scores were not found by gender, but significant differences were found by school level. Second, significant differences of critical thinking disposition scores were not found by gender or school level. Finally, there were positive and negative relationships among scores of some learning modes and critical thinking dispositions. Each student’s preferred learning modes need to be identified to develop an educational program. This program also can be designed to improve critical thinking skills in learners who are blind.
