연구 목적: 이 연구는 시각장애인의 안내견 사용 경험을 분석하고 시각장애인의 삶에 미치는 전반적인 영향에 대한 인식을 알아보는 것이었다. 연구 방법: 안내견을 사용하고 있는 시각장애인 2명의 일과 중 안내견과의 동행을 관찰하였고, 사용자별로 각각 안내견 사용 관련 경험 및 안내견 사용이 삶에 미치는 영향에 대해 심층 면담을 실시하였다. 연구 결과: 안내견은 직선 보행, 방향 전환, 연석 인지, 현명한 불복 등 훈련받은 본연의 기능을 충실하게 수행하는 것으로 나타났다. 안내견 사용은 안내견 사용자들의 대중교통 및 지역사회 시설 이용 등의 접근성을 증가시켰으며, 사회 활동 참여 등 삶의 전반적인 질을 제고시키는 것으로 인식되었다. 논의: 이 연구의 결과를 후속 연구 및 실제적인 대안 등과 연계시켜 논의하였다.
Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to describe the daily experiences of using dog guides from the perspective of two persons with visual impairments. Method: Two dog guide users were observed during their daily routines and intervewed about their experiences of using dog guides. Results: The observation revealed that the dogs functioned well as trained in terms of linear walking, change in direction, obstacle avoidance, curb awareness, and intellectual disobedience. Using dog guides enhanced their accessibility to public transportation and community facilities by the two handlers. The two interviewees reported that using dog guides had positive effects on increasing the quality of their lives. Discussion: The results of this study were discussed in terms of future studies and practical alternatives.
