여수-남해 해저터널 효과 극대화를 위한 채널 터널사례 분석으로 본 여수 발전전략 고찰

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine Yeosu's development strategy through a case analysis of the channel tunnel in order to maximize the effects of the opening of the Yeosu-Namhae undersea tunnel. It is time for Yeosu City, a seaport tourist city, to propose a mid-to-long-term plan to revitalize local tourism in response to the fact that the construction of an undersea tunnel will increase not only accessibility but also the image of the region. To this end, a strategically planned development strategy must be presented, such as creating tourism infrastructure to accommodate tourists visiting the undersea tunnel, securing connectivity with nearby tourist attractions, expanding the stay of foreign tourists visiting the undersea tunnel, and expanding the revitalization atmosphere around the undersea tunnel. Accordingly, this study presented Yeosu City's development strategy by referring to the implications derived from a case analysis of the Channel Tunnel connecting England and France. As a result of the case analysis of the Channel Tunnel, firstly, the importance of psychological and symbolic aspects must be reflected in addition to the aspect of revitalizing the local economy. Secondly, it was concluded that business momentum should be strengthened through political support and expansion of influence. With reference to this, the Yeosu development strategy to maximize the effect of the Yeosu-Namhae undersea tunnel was specifically presented, the contents of which are as follows. First, it is a strategy to link the development of Yeosu-Gwangyang Port with the post-use plan of the Yeosu World Expo. Second, it is a strategy to link with the Yeosu Bay Renaissance Comprehensive Development Plan. Third, it is a transportation hub strategy linking the Yeosu-Namhae Undersea Tunnel, Yeosu Airport, and Yeosu Expo Station. Fourth, it is a strategy to revitalize the Yeosu-Gwangyang Port brand marketing using the Yeosu-Namhae undersea tunnel. Last, Yeosu Airport's regular international flight plan implementation and linked utilization strategy were presented.
