그림책에 대한 관심이 뜨겁다. 그런데도 문학교육의 지평 안에서 그림책을 둘러싼 논의는 그리 풍부하지 못한 편이었다. 유아교육의 관점에서 그림책을 연구한 광범위한 연구는 지금도 계속되고 있으나, 초등학교 혹은 그 이상의 단계에서 그림책은 정작 적합한 관심을 받지 못한 채 방치되고 있는 실정이다. 그림책 자체의 장르적 특성과 그 특성에 착목한 이야기 그림책의 문학교육적 가능성, 실질적인 활용의 방안 등에 대해서는 아직도 연구자들 대부분이 무관심한 것이 사실이다. 이에 이 논문은 이야기 그림책의 본질에 관해 개괄적으로 정리함과 동시에, 현단계 문학교육의 실천 속에 이 그림책이 어떠한 의미를 지닐 수 있으며, 나아가 그 구체적인 활용의 방안이 어떠한지를 모색해 보고자 한다. 소략한 논의이지만, 지금도 실천적으로 이루어지고 있는 그림책을 향한 뜨거운 관심들에 이론적으로 부응하고자 하는 시도가 될 수 있기를 바란다.
Abstract
On Methods of Literature Education Using Picturebooks Kim, Sang-wook(Chuncheon National University of Education) Discussions on picture books have intensely ensued but ones in the landscape of literature education were seldom. Discussions from children's education field have taken place lively, but now we need to look into the characteristics of picture book itself, the possibility of picture books as educational resources and practical ways of using them. The present study summarized the characteristics of narrative picture books and tried to present the practical role of picture books in literature education. Also, the study examined the effectuve ways of using picture books in the classroom
