이 논문에서는 『震閥彙攷續編』라는 신발굴 자료를 집중적으로 분석했다. 『진벌휘고속편』은 19세기 후반에 편집된 것으로, 역대 인물을 50개 편목의 주제로 분류하고 배치하여 방대한 인물 기록을 집성했다는 점에서 매우 주목할 만한 잡록형 인물지이다. 그 편성에 있어서는 충신, 공신, 효자, 열녀 등 기존의 일반적 윤리에 따른 편목도 일부 포함했지만, 편자가 보다 강조한 편목은 名畵, 音律, 卜筮, 창기, 궁녀 등 기존의 正史나 주류적 인물지에서 주목하지 않은 마이너리티 인물들이었다. 상층의 역사 인물을 포괄적으로 포함하면서도 그 무게의 중심은 기층의 인물에 더 비중이 두어져 있었다고 할 수 있다. 『진벌휘고속편』의 인물 기록은 기존의 문헌을 인용하면서 크게 세 가지 흐름을 수용하였다. 첫째, 『잠곡수필』, 『어우야담』 등의 야승․필기․잡록류 문헌에 보이는 흥미로운 인물 기록을 집중적으로 수용했다. 주로 18세기 이전의 인물 기록은 이들 문헌에 의존하였다. 둘째, 중인층 문인이 시정의 기이한 인물을 입전했던 『호산외기』와 이덕무․성대중 등의 기록을 흡수하였다. 셋째, 야담에서 취재한 이야기를 문식을 가해 꾸민 『청구야담』류의 단형 한문서사물을 적극적으로 수용하였다. 이러한 야담 기록의 수용은 『이향견문록』 등 이전의 인물 기록에서는 거의 볼 수 없었던 양상이다. 『진벌휘고속편』은 이 세 가지 흐름의 인물 기록을 집성하고 또 편자 자신이 재구성한 일부 항목을 더하여, 기존에 볼 수 없었던 혼종형의 특이한 인물지를 편성해 놓았다.
Abstract
Giving the world a novel document, Jin Beol Hwi Go Sokpyeon from the Library of Tokyo University in Japan, this paper concentrates on its analysis. Edited in the late 19th century, Jin Beol Hwi Go Sokpyeon is a highly notable miscellany type book of figures as it classifies and arranges historical figures in 50 items of themes, and collects a huge amount of records. Though it contains itemslike loyal subjects, vassals of merit, dutiful sons, faithful wives etc. based on the established general, the figures that the editor put focus on include minorities like painters and calligraphers, musicians, shamans and astrologers, kisaengs, court ladies etc., which had not been paid attention to in the established history. It extensively includes upper class figures in history, but its central focus is put more on figures from the common class. Records of figures in Jin Beol Hwi Go Sokpyeon quote the existing literature and accommodate three kinds of information in general. First, it intensively accommodated records of interesting figures seen in the Yaseung, Pilgi, Japrok kinds of literature like Jam Gok Supil, Eo-U-Yadam etc. Second, it intensively brought records by Lee Deok-mu, Seong Dae-jung etc., as well as Ho San Oe Gi, in which a middle class literary man delivers stories about weird persons in towns. Third, it aggressi- vely introduced Classic Chinese narrative collections like Cheong Gu Ya Dam that added literary modifications to collected oral stories. This accommodation of oral stories is a novel phenomenon that had been hardly seen from past records of figures like Ihyang Gyeonmunrok. Jin Beol Hwi Go Sokpyeon collected these three kinds of person information, added the editor’s own descriptions, and then published a unique hybrid book of figures that had never appeared before.
