본 연구는 초등학교 선생님 11명을 대상으로 하여, 여섯 가지 기본 표정(행복, 슬픔, 놀람, 화, 혐오, 두려움)을 구성하는 얼굴 근육의 움직임에 초점을 맞춘 표정 학습(Bottom up 방식)이 단기간에 가능한지, 가능하다면 어느 정도 효과가 있는지를 소규모실험의 형태로 검증하려 하였다. 본 연구를 통해 첫째, 표정을 구성하는 얼굴 근육의 움직임에 대한 8회차 학습을통해 여섯 가지 기본 표정에 대한 인식률이 10% 이상 높아졌다는 사실이 확인되었다. 둘째, 표정별로 보았을 때, 선생님들이 ‘혐오’와 ‘두려움’의 표정을 인식하는 정도가 갑절 이상 높아진 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구 결과는 Bottom up 방식을 적용한 표정학습이 단기간에 가능하며, 그 효과도 비교적 크다는 것을 나타낸다. 다만, 본 연구는소수의 초등학교 선생님을 대상으로 한 것이어서 집단의 크기나 대상을 달리한 다양한후속 연구를 통한 교차 검증이 필요하다.
Abstract
This study aims to examine whether facial expression learning method(‘bottom-up model’) focusing on the movement of facial muscles that constitutes six basic expressions(happiness, sadness, surprise, anger, disgust, and fear) is possible in a short period of time and, if possible, how effective it is. To this end, the study conducted eight rounds of facial expression learning for 11 elementary school teachers. Through this study, it was confirmed that the recognition rate for six basic expressions increased by 10% or more through eight rounds learning about the movements of facial muscles constituting facial expressions. Second, it was found that the degree to which teachers recognize expressions of “hate” and “fear” has increased more than double. These findings indicate that facial expression learning using the bottom-up model is possible in a short period of time, and its effect is also relatively large.
