한중(韩中)간 체면에 대한 인식이 개인의 의견표명 행위에 미치는 영향

초록

본 연구에서 한국인과 중국인의 의견표명 행위에 영향을 미치는 요인 중 하나로 체면 요인을 설정하고, 이에 대한 실증연구를 진행하였다. 연구결과 우선 중국인은 사회주의 국가라는 환경적인 요인으로 인해 오프라인에서의 의견표명 행위에 대해 스스로 제한을 두고 있다는 점이다. 대신 한국에 비해 온라인에서는 누구보다 자신의 의견을 표명하는데 적극적이었다. 한중 구분을 두지 않았을 때, 온·오프라인 모두 중국의 남성 집단이 가장 강한 의견표명 의지를 보이고 있었다. 그러나 중국인이 비록 온라인에서 한국인 보다 자신의 의견을 외부로 나타내는데 더 적극적이지만, 만약 자신의 신분이 주변인에게 노출될 수 있음을 인지한다면, 자신의 의견표명 의지를 상당히 줄여버리고 있었다. 다음으로 한국인에 비해 중국인이 자신의 체면위협 행위에 민감한 것으로 나타났다. 성별로는 남성이 여성보다 체면을 더 중시하고 있었으며, 상대적으로 연령이 적은 사람들은 주변 사람들의 시선에 민감하게 작용하고, 연령이 많은 사람들은 불특정 다수의 시선에 민감하게 작용하고 있음을 확인하였다. 체면을 매개변수로 하여 온·오프라인 상호관계에서의 그 매개정도를 살펴보았다. 그 결과 한국과 달리 중국에서의 장소체면은 비록 그 변화 정도는 미미하나, 온라인 의견표명에 정적(正的)영향을 주면서 ‘오프라인-온라인 의견표명’ 간의 상관관계를 일정부분 낮추고 있었다. 그리고 인물체면 역시 중국에서만이 온라인 의견표명에 부적(不的)영향을 주면서 ‘오프라인-온라인 의견표명’ 간의 상관관계를 일정부분 떨어뜨리고 있었다.

Abstract

The main purpose of the study is to find out the correlation of two factors, 'Face'(face in open space and with people) and the 'Opinion Expression(offline and online)' through two countries, Korea and China. The results of this study shows that most Chinese people are hostile to express their own opinions on offline but they more tend to express their opinions online compare with Korean people. This study found that Chinese men group is showed the most strongest willingness to express their own opinions between all groups regardless of offline or online. However, even if that Chinese people is more active in expression online than Korean people but they tend to decrease in expression of opinion if they realize that their identity is exposed to public. The study also covers that Chinese people are more sensitive than Korean people to situations which is on face threatening acts, especially the men compare with women. Plus, the young people are more concerned with the face around their friends and acquaintances, whereas the older people are relatively hostile to lose their face in front of unspecified individuals. It also confirms that both face factors ‘Face in Open Space and with people’, performs a partial channel on ‘Opinion Expression on Online’ and ‘Opinion Expression on Offline’ in Chinese case.
