우리나라 초기 기독교학교의 사회적 책임에 대한 역사적 고찰

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find suggestions and countermeasures to the problem of today's Christian education through description of the history of Christian education in the past by analytical research. In order to achieve the above purpose, the establishment of Christian school, the social role of Christian education in the early 20th century, and the implications of the social role of Christian education in the early 20th century for current Christian education were dealt with. In the establishment of Christian school in the early 20th century the political, educational and religious context as social background were described. In the part of the establishment of Christian school Christian schools which were founded from 1885 to 1909 were explained. As the social role of Christian education in the early 20th century, national movement, save-the-nation drive, women's liberation movement and the foundation for the development of higher education were mentioned. In the implications of the social role of Christian education in the early 20th century for current Christian education, the number of Christian schools, the curricular of Christian schools, and Christian teachers' leadership and calling were discussed. From this study there are several suggestions as follows: first, ministers need to recognize the importance of the construction of Christian schools and support them financially. Second, it is necessary to develop Christian curriculum and to establish the institute for Christian teachers' re-training. Third, a research institute which suggests Christian leaders' duty and the counterproposal for Christian education is essential. Last, the calling and spiritual awakening of Christian teachers are indispensible.
