이 논문의 목적은 현대의 여가관과 기독교의 여가관이 역사적으로 어떻게 변화되었는지 설명하고, 바람직한 기독교 여가관으로 개혁주의 여가관을 소개하는데 있다. 먼저 여가를 남는 시간, 활동, 만족감 등의 요소로 정의하고, 쉼, 즐거움, 개인의 발전 등을 얻기 위한 것이 여가의 기능이라는 사실을 지적하였다. 그리고 현대 사회와 기독교의 여가관이 어떠한 과정을 거쳐서 오늘에 이르게 되었는지를 그리스 시대와 로마시대의 고대 여가관, 중세 유럽의 여가관, 그리고 근대의 르네상스와 공리주의 여가관을 중심으로 정리했다. 이렇게 현대 여가관이 성립된 배경을 요약한 후 현대 경제학의 노동경제모형을 중심으로 현대 사회의 여가관을 비판했다. 그리고 교회의 여가관이 초대교회, 중세교회 그리고 종교개혁과 청교도로 이어지면서 어떻게 변했는지 설명하고, 청교도 여가관의 장단점을 지적한 후 현대 교회가 왜 여가관에 대해서 부정적인 인식을 갖는지 설명하였다. 교회의 바람직한 여가관을 설명하기 위해서 창조, 타락, 구속의 맥락에서 안식에 대한 성경적 견해와 함께 개혁주의 여가관을 설명하고, 결론적으로 바람직한 여가관의 중요한 요소를 지적했다.
Abstract
The purpose of this article is to explain the changes in the secular and Christian viewpoints on leisure and to show the reformed viewpoint. It is stressed that leisure can be defined as spare time, activity and satisfaction, and the roles of leisure are for rest, for pleasure and for personal development. In this paper the development of viewpoints on leisure was examined through ancients perspectives of Greece and Rome, Medieval perspective of Roman Catholic, and modern perspective of the Renaissance and the utilitarianism. After then, the secular perspective of leisure in labor economics model is criticized. The development of Christian viewpoints on leisure was investigated through early church period, middle ages and Puritan. It is also explained that the strong and week points of Puritan, and the reason why modern churches have negative views on leisure. To explain the desirable viewpoint on leisure of Christian, the biblical view on rest and the Sabbath is explained. In conclusion it is explain that what is the most important points for Christian viewpoints on leisure.
