Abstract

The purpose of this paper is, focusing on the key words of ‘communication’ and ‘healing’, to explain the structural disorder that has blocked the communication of South and North after the division of Korean peninsula, furthermore is to discuss the direction of overcoming the structural disorder. The division of Korean peninsula meant the betrayal of ‘historical states’ that have matched the ethnic unit and political unit for a long time. The trauma of division means mutual antagonism that two divided states displaced the frustration of ‘national libido’ with feelings of revenge and resentment on the other side. The trauma of division has been rooted in the North and South Korean people,s unconsciousness and functions as the structural disorder that has blocked the communication of South and North(Chapter 2). According to Freud’s later psychology, Eros was changed into Thanatos at the point where Eros become frustrated, this psychological logic can be applied to explain the particularity of North-South relations. If the trauma of division has the dialectical mechanism of Eros and Thanatos, its healing will only exist in weakening the power of hate and increasing the power of ertic communication working on the basis of hatred(Chapter 3). The communication process of South and North is the same as the healing process. First, the communication of South and North means the process of producing common rules, as South and North learn and teach Habitus of the ‘otherness of others’ from each other. Second, it means the process of creating the emotional bond, based on empathy for the suffering caused by Japanese colonial domination and division of Korean peninsula. Third, it means the process of shaping the common rules of new value​​, emotion, and life culture by the forward-project approach, among healing the trauma of division(Chapter 4).
