과학기술에서 젠더와 몸 정치의 문제 -다나 해러웨이의 사이보그 페미니즘(Cyborg Feminism)을 중심으로-

본 논문은 디지털 시대의 새로운 문명에 기여하는 융합 패러다임에 입각하여 과학기술시대의 여성의 몸과 젠더의 문제를 철학적 문제의식을 통해논의하고자 기획하였다. 기술과 여성의 문제를 사이보그 페미니즘 선언문에서다나 해러웨이의 논의인 Modest_Witness@Second_Millenium.FemaleManⓒ_Meets_OncoMouseTM: Feminism and Techoscience,1997을 중심으로 다루고자 한다. 또한 해러웨이가 주장하는 기술생명권력(technobiopower)이 여성의 몸과 밀접한 관련이 있다는 것을 논구하기 위하여 샌드라 하딩의 과학에 대한 문제제기, 주디 와츠그먼의 사이버/테크노 페미니즘을 언급하면서 입체적관점을 형성하여 새로운 젠더정치의 문제를 타진하고자 한다. 특히 해러웨이의 논문을 통하여 여성의 몸이 어떠한 방식으로 과학기술에 의해 변화된 젠더의식과 정치적 담론을 형성하는지 구체적으로 다루어 본다. 이를 통하여 제기하는 문제는 여성과 기술의 관계가 얼마나 밀착되어 영향력이 있는지 알아보는 것이며 새로운 기술 시대에 젠더정치의 가능성이 어떻게 확보될 수 있는지연구해 보는 것이다.
Abstract
A novel issue influencing gender relationships and its politics revolves around the social implications of digital convergence that influences both culture and biology. First, it problematized and brought awareness of a previous gendered approach to science and technology that came under critique. Second, the digital era has had a libratory effect: it provided women a platform for novel possibilities for gendered cultural expression and body politics due to these once stable gender issues increasingly able to be technologically mediated. It is argued that feminist scholars have built a novel techo-feminist perspective. A review of several feminist philosophers is compared for themes of cyborg technology,feminism, and women’s issues. The work of Dana Haraway, Sandra Harding, and Judy Wajcman are discussed for commonalities and differences of opinion on this new gender politics. All explore the changed cultural and biological possibilities open to women in an increasingly technologically mediated world.Changes in gender consciousness and its politics in the digital era are specifically addressed.
