Abstract
I intend to inquire the importance of emotion in the practice of feminist culture in this article. In the feminist culture, the attention to emotion has scarcely been paid, compared with women's consciousness-raising. But, if the role of emotion is not explained, the source of feminist culture will not be elucidated. Feminist culture is the counterpart of patriarchal culture in light of William's cultural hegemony. Williams explained cultural dynamics as the relations of residual culture, dominant culture and emergent culture. According to this cultural hegemony model, feminist culture means the counter culture or alternative culture which is not subsumed within dominant patriarchal culture. Zizek's the real and Foucault's counter-discourse have been supposed as the source of cultural resistance. Both of them concerned about the cultural resistance, even if not exactly feminist cultural resistance. But Zizek' the real as subject's psychological area is not based on live culture. On the other hand, Foucault's counter-discourse as power relation lacks the explanation of subject's psychic life. Outlaw emotion in cultural hegemony complements these problems of the real and counter-culture as subject's cultural resistant source. According to Jaggar, outlaw emotion is the subordinated subject's emotion different from being expected conventionally in the area of the dominant culture. I think that the kind of emotion plays a important role in developing feminist culture.
