본 논문에서는 그간 한국문학사에서 잊혀져 주목 받지 못했던 홍구범(1923~미상)의 생애와 문학세계에 대한 연구사 검토, 주제의식과 그 문학적 의의를 현재적 관점에서 살펴보았다. 한국전쟁 이후 반공주의 담론이 더해질수록 월북은 물론 납북과 납치 등의 전기적 사실에 연루된 홍구범과 그의 문학은 문학사 기술에서 은폐되거나 망각될 대상으로 간주되었을 것으로 추정된다. 1988년 해금조치가 이루어지고 타자성에 대한 담론의 대두와 맞물리면서 해방기와 전쟁기의 ‘잊혀진’ 월․납북 문인들에 대한 조명의 일환으로 홍구범은 호명되기 시작하였다. 홍구범의 문학은 해방과 한국전쟁 시기의 사회상을 집중적으로 묘파해내었다. 떠도는 존재들의 빈궁과 고통의 타자화된 삶을 사실적으로 보여주었다. 그의 작품들은 해방 전후의 개인의 삶이 보이는 비참함과 돈과 권력 구조의 폭력성에 대한 비판, 그리고 이를 촉발케 한 일본의 동아시아 군국주의 전쟁과 식민적 제국성을 총체적으로 서사화하였다. 앞으로 홍구범의 생애와 문학이 말하고자 했던 문제의식에 대해 계속해서 질문하고 관점을 갱신하며 읽어낸다면 해방공간의 의미와 함께 한국문학사에 그의 문학과 목소리에 합당한 자리가 마련될 것으로 본다.
Abstract
This paper examines the life and literary world of Hong Koo-beom (1923 - unknown), who has been neglected in Korean literary history, and examines his themes and literary significance from a current perspective. As anti-communist discourse intensified after the Korean War, Hong Goobum and his literature, which were implicated in biographical facts such as abduction and kidnapping as well as Wall Book, were presumably considered as objects to be concealed or forgotten in literary history. In 1988, with the liberation of Korea and the rise of the discourse of otherness, Hong began to be invoked as part of the shedding of light on the "forgotten" Wall and abduction literati of the liberation and war periods. Hong's literature focuses on the social conditions during the liberation and Korean War periods. His works narrate the misery of individual lives before and after liberation, a critique of the violence of money and power structures, and the Japanese militarized wars and colonial imperialism in East Asia that precipitated them. Through a dense development of the immorality and unethicality caused by the asymmetry of capital (money) and power, a gaze that restrains emotion as much as possible, and the language of documentary fiction, Hong achieves the aesthetics of a short story.
