Abstract
Strategic Ambidexterity suggests that balancing value appropriation, which improves existing processes and technologies, and value creation, which innovates according to environmental changes, can ensure long-term success. However, while many previous studies reported a positive relationship between organizational ambidexterity strategy and organizational performance, some studies observed negative effects. This study aims to explore the impact of ambidexterity strategies on small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) performance regarding different strategic types (i.e., single strategy, within-domain ambidexterity strategy, cross-domain ambidexterity strategy), and to investigate the role of government support in moderating these effects. Empirical analysis was conducted using data from the 2022 Entrepreneurship Survey comprising 2,518 observations, analyzed through Ordinary Least Squares regression analysis. The results indicate that cross-domain ambidexterity strategy has a negative impact on SME performance, and government support has a partial moderating effect.
