Abstract

This study analyzes the occupational and psychological experiences of police officers working at Sunflower Centers, using the grounded theory method. Applying open coding, axial coding, and selective coding, the study identified 15 categories, 38 subcategories, and 54 concepts related to officers' experiences in the process of supporting victims. The findings systematically demonstrate that Sunflower Center officers face significant psychological and emotional burdens during their duties, experiencing emotional exhaustion and physical fatigue. To address these challenges, officers emphasized the importance of both individual coping strategies and comprehensive organizational support systems. Accordingly, this study provides a structured analysis and practical recommendations to enhance the effectiveness of victim advocacy services and to ensure the sustainability of victim support officers. Ultimately, these findings will promote more refined victim-centered policing and contribute to the sustainability of police officers at victim support centers.
