국제 테러리즘에 대한 효과적 대응 방안

Abstract

According to statistics from the Foreign Ministry's Center for Terrorism and Information, the number of international terrorism cases stood at 1,614 in 2019, down from 2,079 last year, but the death toll rose to 8,025 from 7,916 last year. This shows that terrorism in the Middle East has decreased due to the U.S.-led campaign to repel ISIS, but its size and severity are increasing. In other words, the recent terrorist attacks are indiscriminately occurring not only in public institutions such as the military and police, but also in private facilities such as tourist attractions, hotels and restaurants where people gather. Last year, there were no direct terrorist attacks in Korea, but there were more than 500 suspected bombing threats and terrorist attacks on important national facilities, and 26 foreigners related to terrorist groups were deported. As such, Newterrorism is growing and growing globally, and Korea is no longer safe. It is time to keep in mind that there is a possibility of a terrorist attack in Korea at any time, as foreigners including the Middle East are entering the country due to rapid internationalization, and the dispatch of South Korean troops to Lebanon (Dongmyeong Unit) and South Sudan (Hanbit Unit) is included in the target countries of terrorist groups. Accordingly, this paper investigated and analyzed papers, reports and statistical data published in relation to terrorism, examined background knowledge about terrorism and presented effective countermeasures.
