Abstract

During the modern era, ‘fairy tales’ were the concepts that encompass folklore and creative fairy tales, and folklore and anthropology were prevalent at that time. Since the similar types of stories have been found in many countries around the world, therefore it can be noted that the theory of movement (or propagation) that stories moves place to place and the theory of multiple occurrences that human beings share inspiration and spirit. However, although many similar stories have already been collected around the world from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century, there has been no research on this in Korea. The original type of "The Trial of the Rabbit" (ATU 155) discussed in this paper is that an animal intend to harm a person who saved its life. The person who saves the animal fails to accept this situation and asks for help from the other beings and follows the judgment. The final judge arranges for the animal received grace to return to its original state. The Asian folk tales selected by this paper are very similar to the narrative structure, although there are differences in the number of gracious people, ungrateful animals, judges, and trials. A story is like a living, wriggling creature. As to the variation of folk tales that exist throughout the world, it is not known where this folk tale originated and how it spread. However, the anthropology can refer to the view that the ideas of mankind communicate with each other and that myths and other stories reflect the habits and beliefs of ancient or primitive people.
