BYD Co Ltd., or Build Your Dreams has become a global brand in information technology, automobile and new energy with its robust growth and vast market capitalization over the span of its mere two decades. BYD Auto Co., Ltd. (also known as BYD for simplicity) especially gains the spotlight as the leading electric car manufacturer in China. As a wholly owned subsidiary of BYD Co Ltd., BYD Auto Co., Ltd., which is founded in 2003, is a Chinese automobile manufacturer based in Xi'an. Its principal activities include the designing, manufacturing and distribution of conventional and new energy vehicles. We believe that BYD’s eventful past, challenging present and promising future makes it a perfect subject to explore. In this text, we will analyze the historical development, particularly highlighting six seeds of success, and current challenges of BYD. Corresponding suggestions in terms of internal, external and sustainability will also be formulated for BYD’s future growth.
