Abstract
This paper analyzed the determinants of pure vertical FDI. To do this, while considering firm specific characteristics, we empirically estimated it by using panel data on Korea firm data for 2006~2013 through various method such as logit model, multinomial, ordered logit model and system GMM. In this study, vertical FDI is defined as the share of affiliate exports back to the parent firm in local affiliate’s sale. The main findings are that labor cost and fixed investment play a significant role in the case of pure vertical FDI. These results support the theory of vertical FDI and the previous empirical studies. Obtaining the same results in various methods also improve the reliability of these results.
