이념 논란이 희석된 남북관계 드라마 연구 - <사랑의 불시착>을 중심으로 -

본고에서는 높은 시청률을 올린 <사랑의 불시착>을 분석하여 이념적 논란이 없는 성공적인 남북관계 드라마에 대해 논의하였다. 냉전기 반공드라마는 반공이 일상인 사회 분위기와 정부지원에 힘입어 대중적 인기를 쉽게 얻었다. 북방정책이 시작된 1988년부터 분단의 아픔을 그린 드라마가 방영되었지만, 큰 인기를 얻지는 못했고, 북한지도부를 선정적으로 묘사하거나 남북한 경쟁구도를 다룬 드라마들은 시대착오적이라는 비판을 받았다. 남북정상회담 이후에는 논란의 대상이 될 수 있는 남북관계 드라마가 한동안 방영되지 않았다. 이러한 남북관계의 딜레마에서 벗어나기 위해 <아이리스>는 ‘남북 공동의 적’을 등장시켜 ‘반북주의 회피’라는 공식을 만들었다. 그리고 <스파이 명월>에서는 이념보다 남녀의 로맨스에 초점을 맞추어 로맨틱 코미디로 승화시켰다. <더킹 투하츠>는 논란의 여지를 더욱 없애기 위해 ‘비현실적인 남북관계’를 통해 판타지 드라마를 만들었다. 이와 같은 사례들을 내용에 반영한 <사랑의 불시착>은 부정한 개인을 통해 반북주의를 회피하였고, 비현실적인 남북관계와 남녀의 로맨스에 초점을 맞추어 이념적 갈등을 희석시켰다. <설강화>도 부정한 집단과 남녀의 로맨스에 초점을 두었지만, 현대사를 연상시키는 시대적 배경으로 역사왜곡 논란을 겪었다.
Abstract
In this paper, by analyzing Crash Landing on You, a successful inter-Korean drama without ideological controversy was discussed. Anti-communist dramas during the Cold War easily gained public popularity thanks to the anti-communist social atmosphere and government support. A drama depicting the pain of division has been aired since 1988, when the Northern Policy began, but it did not gain much popularity. Dramas that depict the North Korean leadership in a sensational way or deal with the rivalry between the two Koreas have been criticized for being anachronistic. After the inter-Korean summit, controversial inter-Korean dramas were not aired for a while. In order to escape from the dilemma of inter-Korean relations, Iris evaded anti-North Koreaism by introducing a ‘common enemy of the two Koreas’. Meanwhile, in Spy Myungwol, it was sublimated into a romantic comedy focusing on romance rather than ideology. The King Two Hearts made a fantasy drama through ‘unrealistic inter-Korean relations’ to further eliminate the controversy. Reflecting these cases in the content, Crash Landing on You avoids anti-North Koreaism through corrupt individuals and dilutes ideological conflicts by focusing on unrealistic inter-Korean relations and romance. Snowdrop also focused on the romance with corrupt groups, but it suffered a history distortion controversy due to the historical background reminiscent of modern history.
