경북지역 노인의 죽음불안 실태분석 및 대응방안 모색
An Analysis of Death Anxiety in Old Age and Exploration of Countermeasures : Based on In-depth Interview with the Elderly in North Gyeongsang Province

본 연구는 노년기에 직면하는 죽음불안의 정도, 원인 등을 분석하며, 이를 토대로 죽음불안에 대처하는데 필요한 대응방안을 모색하려는 것이다. 이를 위해 먼저 죽음불안의 개념, 구성요소 등에 대한 이론을 살펴보고, 이를 토대로 본 연구를 수행하기 위한 분석변수를 죽음 자체에 대한 불안, 죽음과정에 대한 불안, 죽음이후에 대한 불안을 중심으로 도출하였다. 이어서 분석변수에 입각하여 심층 면접조사를 실시하였으며, 이를 토대로 노인의 죽음불안 정도, 원인, 양태 등을 분석하였다. 마지막으로 노년기의 죽음불안을 완화하기 위한 통합적 대응방안을 제언하였다. 연구방법은 심층 면접조사 방식을 택하였으며, 면접대상은 경북지역에 거주하는 80대 이상의 노인을 대상으로 성별, 거주지역 등을 적절하게 안배하였다. 그리고 죽음불안에 대한 대응책 모색에 필요한 정보를 얻기 위해 간호사, 요양보호사, 종교인에 대한 심층 면접조사도 시행하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this article is to analyze the degree and causes of death anxiety faced in old age and seek the countermeasures necessary to cope with death anxiety. To this end, this article first examined the theories on the concept, variables, and patterns of death anxiety and, based on this theoretical foundation, established the analytical variables focusing on anxieties about death itself, death process, and after death. The following chapter conducted an investigation on the degree, causes, and pattern of death anxiety of the elderly, through in-depth interviews with the elderly and death-related professionals in North Gyeongsang Province. The final chapter suggested integrated countermeasures to alleviate death anxiety in old age. An in-depth interview was chosen as a research method, targeting the elderly in their 80s or older living in North Gyeongsang Province. In addition, in-depth interview was conducted on nurses, nursing care workers, and religious pastor to obtain information necessary to find countermeasures against death anxiety.
