권정생 소년소설 <몽실 언니>의 장소성에 기반한 연민 분석

본 연구의 목적은 경북 안동의 지역성을 내포하는 작가 권정생의 <몽실 언니>를 “연민” 과 “장소성”에 기반하여 새로운 관점에서 이해하는 데 있다. 권정생 <몽실 언니>는 주인공 ‘몽실’을 통해 일제 해방 이후부터 한국전쟁을 거쳐 전후혼란의 시기까지를 배경으로 하여 시대적 혼란상과 그로 인한 개인의 비참함을 보여준다. 본 연구에서는 ‘몽실’과 몽실의 세계로 표상되는 ‘집’의 장소성에 기반하여, 연민의 구조를 밝히고자 한다. 이를 위해 가스통 바슐라르(Gaston Louis Pierre Bachelard)의 공간으로서의 '집'의 장소성과 마사 누스바움(Martha Nussbaum)의 연민(Compassion)과 연민의 작동 원리를 결부하여 해석한다는 점에서 ‘몽실’과 몽실을 둘러싼 세계로서의 타자들을 이해하는 데 새로운 관점을 제시한다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to understand author Kwon Jeong-saeng's <Mongsil Sister>, which contains the regional characteristics of Andong, Gyeongsangbuk-do, from a new perspective based on “compassion” and “placeness.” Kwon Jeong-saeng's <Mongsil Sister> is set from the period after liberation of Korea through the Korean War to the period of post-war chaos through the main character, Mongsil, and shows the chaos of the times and the resulting personal misery. In this paper, we aim to reveal the structure of compassion based on the placeness of ‘Mongsil’ and Mongsil’s ‘home’. To this end, it presents a new perspective in understanding 'mongsil' and others as the world surrounding dreamscape in that it interprets it in conjunction with Gaston Louis Pierre Bachelard's 'home' as a space and Martha Nussbaum's compassion and operating principles of compassion.
